i did not cry at drew's 1st birthday party, but when i received my first email from baby center that referred to him as a toddler, i almost lost it. he will always be my baby, of course, but each day he becomes more like a little boy right before my eyes. i'm just so thankful to be home to see it. i don't always stop and make note of every little thing that he is doing that amazes me, so here are a few highlights from drew's life at 13 (almost 14) months old.
-gives lots of hugs and {semi open-mouthed} kisses
-can walk/run/climb up onto the coffee table in the blink of an eye
-will push around his walking toy like it's his job with the most serious look on his face. we say he is mowing the floors.
-will kick a soccer ball (or block or cup or anything that will roll) all over the house. he has skill. this makes todd very happy.
-says dada, duck, dog (or some variation of those words) and "get it" when kicking the ball. apparently we have trained him to play a baby version of soccer using the same vocabulary that we used when training the pups. oops.
-reads lots and lots and lots of books. he hugs and kisses books, too. i love it.
there are specific moments and full days when i think i could not love him more. then the next day comes along and proves me wrong.
I'm looking forward to seeing the little man in a few weeks.
